So you want to be a volunteer driver?
The Ride Connection network is a collection of agencies who serve older adults and people with disabilities
with transportation options in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties. The network relies on its many volunteer drivers to provide
its valuable service to the people in our community who need it most.
Together we provided over 410,000 rides last year. Our customers rely on us to get to medical appointments, the grocery store, community
centers, volunteer positions and more. We do not charge a fee for our service. Some riders who are in a position to do so will donate.
If you enjoy helping people and driving, this may be a perfect opportunity for you. It can be an incredibly rewarding experience.
We prefer that you are available to drive at least __ hours per week. You can dictate your schedule
and we will work around it. Our normal hours of operation are between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. A transportation coordinator will
contact you weekly to make requests.
You can choose where you would like to drive. Some people choose to drive in their own neighborhood
while some volunteers are comfortable driving in all areas of the tri-county region. You can also specify the organization in which you would
like to volunteer.
Each volunteer driver must:
- Have had their driver’s license for 5 years
- Pass a criminal background and DMV check
- Complete two driver training courses (available in classroom or online)
